COVID-19 Library Update

Dear Orange City Public Library Readers, Supporters and Friends,

I have been thinking of you during these days of swift change and challenges. We at the library miss you all and realize the impact that our closing has on our community of avid readers and frequent library patrons.

Library card applications are now online so that everyone in Orange City, Maurice, and rural Sioux County can access our online books and resources. Librarians are available by telephone and email to answer questions and provide help Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Email to Fax service is available. If you have a document that can be emailed and requires faxing, please call to arrange for a fax. (Copyright restrictions apply.)

The Orange City Public Library continues to provide online access to our collections. Purchases of e-books and e-audio books have increased to provide more and better access to these resources. Streaming video has been added through RBdigital. Here you may enjoy 7-day access to seven streaming channels. Acorn TV brings world-class British mysteries, dramas and comedies. Great Courses offers lifelong learning and personal enrichment with hundreds of educational courses of video lecture. IndieFlix provides streaming pop culture, box office hits, award-winning feature films, and documentaries. Ponglo Novela Club has on demand Spanish language telenovelas, and translated movies. Quello Concerts’ on demand collection of full-length concerts and music documentaries bring music as well as video. LearnItLive is a live and on-demand service that has virtual reality wellness and personal development videos. Method Test Prep is a comprehensive self-paced program for ACT/SAT review.

TumbleBooks has expanded access to Math, Teen and Romance Collections. This resource allows simultaneous use which means every reader can use the TumbleBook collections without waiting. Creativebug, another streaming video learning service featuring experts and artists is coming soon! Until then is available through Sioux Center Public Library.
During this unprecedented time, I encourage you to look for the good in the face of uncertainty, take the needed health precautions, and experience the restorative and stress-relieving power of reading and storytelling. It is my hope that you remain well and are able to spend time outdoors getting fresh air and perhaps listening an e-audiobook as you walk the dog or run. Please know that we are grateful for your support of the Orange City Public Library, where the power of reading continues to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

Wishing you all good health,

Lisa Johnson, MLIS
Director, Orange City Public Library
