The community of Orange City is invited to attend a public viewing of the renderings for the new Puddle Jumper Park! The viewing will take place on Wednesday, February 23, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Stadcentrum (101 2nd St NE, Orange City, IA 51041). This new park will focus on inclusive play for all ages, gender, ethnicity, and physical, mental, and emotional abilities.
In 2021 the City of Orange City was engaged in a community-wide process to determine long-term planning. The City of Orange City engaged ISG, a comprehensive planning firm, to lead us through this process, ISG utilized open house meetings, survey tools, and many face-to-face engagements with Orange City leaders and general residents. Through conversations, developing a park in the area identified as the Puddle Jumper Park emerged as a top 5 priority. The park will include accessible play areas for persons with mobility or sensory-motor impairments.

The park will also include a large green space, a splash pad with ground-level spray features, an accessible zip-line, walking paths, shade elements, and attractive landscaping. A dog park, disc golf course, and sand volleyball court will also be part of the initial development in an effort to provide a variety of experiences for persons of all ages. Future plans include a shelter house, pickleball courts, and additional play features.
We welcome your feedback and comments. Following the February 23 public viewing, the plans will be available at the Orange City Public Library through the end of the month.
