Spotlight Series: Meet the Fire Department leader, Dan Roghair

Our next spotlight is on the Fire Department, focusing on its leader, Dan Roghair. With an impressive 35 years of service, Dan recently assumed the role of chief, a testament to his leadership and dedication to our community.

In this role, he leads the charge to protect and serve our community. He and his team plan ahead, ensuring they are always ready to respond to incidents through rigorous trainings and keeping all equipment and gear up-to-date and ready to go.

He shared, “I enjoy sharing my passion for protecting and serving those around me professionally and safely. I am blessed to have a department that actively recruits new applicants and offers student firefighter opportunities to high school juniors/seniors, as well as college students looking to join the fire service as their occupation. A lot has changed in the fire service since I first pulled up my rubber firefighter boots. There are many new changes, but our community expects our best to embrace the challenge and be ready.”

Dan Roghair is a true member of our community. He has deep roots in Orange City, having lived here for 61 years. His family, including his wife Karen and their three sons, have been an integral part of our community. Two of his sons serve full-time on the Orange City Fire Department and Sioux County Dive team. Dan is also a proud member of the American Legion and Sioux County Dive Team.
Thank you for serving our community!
