Can COVID-19 virus spread through sewer systems?

As the CDC continues to review the spread of the virus, it is believed that the transmission of COVID-19 through sewer systems may be possible. However, there is no evidence that this has occurred, and direct human contact with sewer systems is very limited. City of Orange City wastewater employees continue to take proper safeguards and practice basic hygiene precautions during their daily work tasks.
