Do You Have a Naming Idea?
Orange City Council is seeking community input for a name for the new housing development that will compliment the MOC-FV Elementary School. Suggestions are being accepted at the City Hall until April 15.
The entire development will provide 75 new residential lots, many with the potential for walk-out basements and several with backyards that open to ponds and natural areas.
The first phase includes 25 lots, including 7 zoned for higher density multi-family development, and 18 zoned single family residential. Seven of the single-family residential lots will be .43 acres or larger, most with 125’ frontage. The remaining lots are one third acre in size with frontage ranging from 105’ to 110’.
Pricing of the lots will be available when the final plat is approved by the City Council in May or early June. Lot sales and availability for building will follow – hopefully in July.
This development is in the incorporated City limits of Orange City and will be served water, sewer, and gas, by Orange City Municipal Utilities. Electric will be served by Northwest REC.
Additional development in the area includes the construction of the roundabout at Jay Avenue and Highway 10 will take place beginning in April of 2023. The City is also preparing specifications for the extension of 14th street from the Puddlejumper developments east to connect to the school area development, construction is likely in late 2022 or early 2023. Sioux County will also be hard surfacing Jay Avenue south of the school in late 2023 or early 2024.
Community members are encouraged to email their naming ideas and any questions regarding the development to Kurt Frederes or Earl Woudstra. Suggestions are being accepted at the City Hall until April 15.
