The Orange City Public Library will host its second annual Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros celebration on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
This year’s Día celebration will begin at 9:00 am with a bilingual storytime, which is open to English speakers and Spanish speakers alike. From 9:00-12:00, participants can learn about five different cultures around the library to get stamps in their Día passport. The five stations will display information about Panama, Ghana, Greece, South Korea, and the Tlingit Indians of the Pacific Northwest. Each station will also feature a trickster tale and an activity or craft. Stories that stem from those cultures will be read at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:00. At 10:00, we’ll play a game of Lotería — a traditional Mexican game similar to bingo, which has been adapted to incorporate popular children’s book characters. Children’s books, in English and in Spanish, will be given away throughout the day, and patrons will be able to taste snacks from different countries.
