Spotlight Series: Meet the Prairie Winds Event Center Team
We are excited to highlight the outstanding work of one City department each month. In June, we are recognizing Jess and Danielle from the Prairie Winds Event Center!
Jess Kuehl has been the Manager at Prairie Winds for the past 2.5 years. She has lived in Orange City for 7 years. She is married to Kody, and they have a 9-year-old daughter, two cats, and two dogs! Jess shared,
“I enjoy being a part of special moments in Orange City citizens’ lives, whether on their wedding day or at a Tulip Festival event.”
Danielle Zuidema is the Assistant Manager and has served in this role for 2.5 years. She has lived in Orange City for the past 7 years and shared,
“As a transplant to the area and a current City employee, I most enjoy welcoming outside visitors, hearing their stories, and educating them on the best places to eat and things to do in and around the area.”
Jess and Danielle’s work has had a profound impact on our community and the surrounding areas. Their dedication, hard work, and positivity have made many special events possible, and we are truly grateful for their contributions.

What areas (broad-scope tasks, projects, etc.) do you oversee?
Oversee all items of Prairie Winds Event Center, including touring with potential clients, communicating with all current clients, processing payments and contracts, staffing, scheduling maintenance and cleaning, and ordering supplies.
In what ways does your department’s work most impact the general public?
We offer an amenity to the community to host their special events.
What does a typical day in your role look like?
There is no such thing as a typical day in the events business. Every day is different depending on the upcoming events that we have. However, most of my time is spent communicating with current and potential clients via email, assisting with set-ups and organizing details for upcoming events.
What do you most enjoy about serving the City of Orange City?
I enjoy being a part of special moments in Orange City citizens’ lives whether that’s on their wedding day or at a Tulip Festival event.

What do you love about living/working in Orange City?
Orange City is a very well-kept town. Rarely will you see roadkill or trash in the streets.
How do you enjoy spending free time in the community?
I love sipping a good cup of coffee and catching up with friends.
