Spotlight Series: Meet the Spotlight Feature: Fire Department Volunteers
Each month, we proudly feature one of the City departments that make Orange City a great place to live. This month, we’re spotlighting the Fire Department. Under the leadership of Chief Dan Roghair, these dedicated volunteers are invaluable to our community.

Commitment to Community
When asked about the fire department’s work, Assistant Chief Al Jeltema expressed appreciation for the supportive facilities and equipment the City provides, the strong sense of family within the department, and the community’s support.
“As a Captain of the OCFD, I enjoy the challenges it brings and love the brotherhood it creates,” added Capt. Josh Dykstra.
Serving Beyond the Fire Department
Many of our fire department volunteers wear multiple hats within the community. For instance, Brent Van Leeuwen serves as a reserve police officer, while Breckin Bomgaars is a street department mechanic. Each member steps up to serve Orange City wherever they’re needed and remains ready to lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice.
We are deeply grateful for every member of the Orange City Fire Department. Their dedication and preparedness are a testament to their commitment to community safety and well-being.
