Welcome Two New Council Members

The City of Orange City is pleased to welcome two new members to the City Council: Andrew Bloemendaal and Mark Scallon. Both bring strong local ties, professional experience, and a shared commitment to serving our community. We’re grateful for their willingness to serve and look forward to the ideas and energy they’ll bring to City Council.

Andrew Bloemendaal:

“I was born and raised in Orange City, graduating from MOC Floyd Valley and later Northwestern College. From 2009-2022, job opportunities took me to Minnesota, Colorado and South Dakota. In 2021, I married Juliana, another Orange City native. We have 2 kids, Kaatje is almost 3 and Hans is 1. I work for Mulder Auto, primarily in sales. I’m excited about getting started on the city council and look forward to the opportunities ahead of the community.”

Mark Scallon:

“My wife, Jenon, and I have lived in Orange City for the last 12 years. We have four children: Caroline (8), Rory (6), Anna (4), and Julia (2). I grew up on a hog and chicken farm in Iowa Falls. Next, I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Health, and then from the University of Iowa as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. After graduating, I started working at Orange City Dentistry as a general dentist and have been sole owner since 2020. While in Orange City, I have been involved with many different organizations such as Tulip Festival Chairperson, Trinity Reformed deacon, Orange City Area Daycare Board, RAGBRAI, and OCCS Community partner. In my free time, I enjoy running and attending area school events.”

Please join us in welcoming Andrew and Mark as they begin this new chapter of service to Orange City.
